ADDITIONS IN VERSION 1.2.0:
4 more dates have been added to Date Night Mod! (2 unique to each spouse, 2 generic)
Beach Date is a generic term. On a hot summer day, your spouse might ask you out on this date. To set this date, go to the beach after accepting from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (This date was inspired by PinkParadox and many wonderful strangers!)
Dance Date is a generic term on Date Night Mod. On the first day of a new season, your spouse will invite you to dance at your farm. This is a “guaranteed date,” which means that no matter what you specify for ‘DateAskPercentChance,’ it will always activate on Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter 1. (unless it is set to 0, which disables this date along with all dates). (Many thanks to Dollyevida for making this date possible!)
Emily is a “Sadness Cleansing Gem” for her spouse. Emily can approach you at any time, in any weather, and in any season. After consenting to the trigger date, go to Haley/residence. Emily’s (Thanks to RubyRedChaos for coming up with the idea!)
Haley is known as “The Desert Photographer” by her husband. After you fix the bus, Haley can ask you on any day, in any weather, in any season (either through the community center or Joja). After consenting to the trigger date, go to the bus stop before 5:00 p.m. (Many thanks to Dollyevida and PinkParadox for making this date possible!)
If you go on a date with your spouse in Date Night Mod, your friendship will grow (configurable, see new config option)
4 new Config Options have been added:
“FriendshipBonus” lets you choose from four different sorts of friendship bonuses. “none” disables gaining friendship, whereas “small,” “medium,” and “big” correspondingly boost it by 1/10, 2/10, and 4/10 of a heart.
“DatesOnFestivalDays”: Date Night Mod allows or disallows being asked out on a date on a festival day. On festival days, several sites are usually blocked or off-limits, making it impossible for you to finish the date if asked. If you enable this, dates will be requested on a date with a festival even if you won’t be able to finish it. Dates will never be asked on every festival day if deactivated (except the Night Market). Every vanilla event, as well as the two new Ridgeside Village festivals, are in the works.
“UniqueDateChance”: Choose whether or not you want to go on a date with your spouse in Date Night Mod (given the spouse has the chance of asking specific date event). If your spouse does not yet have any unique dates, this will have no effect. If set to 0, spouse-specific unique dates are disabled. When set to 100, generic dates for spouses with specified events are disabled (if your spouse does not have any unique dates yet they will still ask for generic dates).
“DisabledDates”: Allows/disallows vanilla spouses to ask you out on a date. If you have a platonic housemate who is generally romanceable, it works nicely with mods like Platonic Partners and Friendships. If this is set to true for an NPC, that NPC will never ask you out on a date. For all, the default setting on Date Night Mod is false.
Date Night Mod Extended compatibility for wives who have been modified. All in Search of Love, Ridgside Village, and Stardew Valley: Expanded Edition Plus Jodi and Robin have special dishes that they will consume on specific dates based on their favorite gifts. During the dancing date, all Ridgeside Village spouses’ personal themes will be played.
Date Night Mod FIXES:
Juna (from the Juna – Roommate NPC) has been added to the housemates category. She won’t invite you out on dates anymore. Feel free to reach out if you have any more roommate mods that haven’t been covered yet!
Your spouse will no longer ask you for dates when you may be unable to go due to festival dates. This can be reactivated (see new config options).
Mods that make vanilla characters romanceable, such as Robin, Demetrius, Pierre, Caroline, Jodi, and Gunther, are now compatible. You should now be able to go out on a date with any potential partner. Gus will now be able to ask you out on a Saloon date thanks to the new compatibility fix for Date Night Mod. Instead, Emily will deliver your order to you.
The display name of an NPC no longer corresponds to how they were referred to during dates. Being married to Magnus (SVE), whose internal name remains “Wizard” even after his displayed name changes, has had a major impact.
Shane’s kiss sprite wouldn’t show up during generic dates due to a bug.
Some typos have been corrected.
When using SVE or other altered maps, version 1.1.2 addressed a serious problem during the Library cutscene.
Date Night Mod roommates who have been wanting to go on romantic dates
“AllowRoommateDates” has been introduced as a new Config option: (False by default) Allow or disallow a platonic roommate from asking you out on a date. Krobus (vanilla), Apples (SVE), and Mr. Ginger are currently supported (Mr. Ginger). NOTE: This does not make events platonic; rather, it just allows them to happen. As of now, the dialogue in Date Night Mod will be very romantic. Please make a note on the mod page if you have a roommate who isn’t supported, and I’ll be happy to add compatibility!
Version 1.1.1 contains a minor bug patch Date Night Mod.
nexus update key was incorrectly entered.
contributors of event ideas have been given sufficient credit in the changelog.
Version 1.1.0 has been updated to include two new generic dates for Date Night Mod:
Picnic in the Woods: When it is not raining, your spouse may request this day in the spring, summer, or fall. After accepting, go to Cindersap Forest between 11:00 and 3:00. (Parts of this date were inspired by Dollyevida, Carnagemaker98, and a friendly stranger!)
Your spouse may request a library date on rainy/stormy days in the spring, summer, or fall, or on any day in the winter. After consenting, you may enter the Library at any time. (Thank you to Dollyevida and RubyRedChaos for some of this date’s inspiration!)
After attending the date, you will receive additional food prizes (certain rewards will be different based on which Spouse you are married to [default Survival Burger for non-Vanilla Spouses]).
Two new configuration options have been added to Date Night Mod:
“MinHeartsRequired” is a configuration option that allows you to alter the minimum amount of hearts required for your spouse to ask you out on a date (Default 10, allows any value 0 – 14 Date Night Mod)
“LibraryDateCutscene” is a config option that allows you to enable/disable the book-related cutscene that plays during the library date (I recommend watching it at least once!) This is for players who wish to keep their dates as brief as possible.
Compatibility for the mod “Looking for Love” has been fixed (Saloon date crashed when married to Gus, Marnie, Lewis, Clint, Pam, or Willy due to duplicate NPCs). Gus will no longer request dates at the Saloon. Unless there are particular mods that change married characters to be marriagable, such as Gunther, Robin, Demetrius, Caroline, Pierre, and Jodi, all custom spouses should be compatible. I won’t provide compatibility for these Date Night Mod until it’s specifically requested, primarily because I don’t have the time to look for them.
Update Key has been added (you can now see if there is a new update available through the SMAPI console)
Version 1.0.0 Date Night Mod of the code has been cleaned up.
DESCRIPTIONS
One thing I noticed about marriage in this game is that there are no further showcases of your relationship or bond together after you see your Spouse’s 14-Heart Event. This Date Night mod seeks to rectify the situation! It includes a date night event where you may spend time with your spouse.
There are numerous generic dates for all Spouses and even some spouse-specific dates now available, but I have more planned, including unique dates for each of the Vanilla Spouse Candidates as well as even more general dates.
In the form provided below, you can request/suggest alternate dates for specific spouses (or just generic ones). This will be quite helpful to me, since I intend to expand on this Date Night mod significantly in order to add a lot more variation to the married/dating life in Stardew Valley! All suggestions will be considered, so please share your thoughts! (Thank you, RememberEmber, for this brilliant suggestion!)
How to trigger the dates
If you have at least 10 hearts (adjustable) with your Spouse, there is a 10% (configurable) chance that they will ask for a date every day. Once you depart the farmhouse, the date request will be made.
Your Spouse can presently request the following distinct types of dates from you. The details for them can be found below.

Compatibility
Most other mods should work with this one. Here are a few of the most well-known:
Stardew Valley Expanded: is fully compatible with. The map alterations have no effect on the events, and any custom spouses (for example, Victor and Sophia) will ask you out on dates and show up as planned.
Ridgeside Village: is fully compatible with. All customary spouses should inquire about and attend dates.
Looking for Love: All Spouses are compatible.
Free Love / Multiple Spouses / Polyamory Mods: I assume only your most recent Spouse or your “official” Spouse will ask you out on dates. In Free Love, you can modify this by gifting the spouse you want to date a Bouquet.
Other Custom Spouses: All custom spouses should be compatible (including SVE and RSV spouses). All mods that make vanilla characters romanceable are fully compatible as of release 1.2.0.
Editing sprites and portraits should be completely compatible with Date Night Mod.
Map Edits: I can’t promise that the events will work with mods that change the vanilla maps (except for SVE, which I tested and made sure compatible). Please file a bug report if you notice anything unusual. In the worst-case scenario, the game will not crash, but events may glitch, freeze, or appear strange (NPCs walking into objects, etc.). If you detect a conflict with a map mod, please let me know which one it is and I will gladly provide compatibility for it.
Multiplayer: When married to an NPC, it should be totally compatible. If you’re married to another player, this obviously won’t work.
