DESCRIPTIONS
- Thanks to SPID dark magic, NPCs in the marriage faction (those you can “propose to” when wearing an Amulet of Mara) have a 25% chance of being equipped with an amulet of Mara.
- If the NPC in question is wearing an amulet and is friendly to you, you can ask them out without having to acquire an amulet yourself, as is customary in the Nords.
- Straightforward and to the point. Although it does not affect the marriage quest, I’ve introduced a more appropriate chat choice for these situations. Your character will remark something like this: “Is that a Mara’s Amulet? Are you… curious about me? “and then there’ll be some standard banter.
Vanilla Behaviour
Before you can ask anyone out, you must first speak with Maramal about marriage, as stated in the original quest. It’s pointless if your character is a Nord who is already familiar with the tradition, but that’s how vanilla works. (If you don’t talk to Maramal beforehand, donning an amulet will not enable the dialogue.)
In a future update, I’m open to modifying this and even increasing the mechanics of “marriage proposals.” (Rejections? Persuasions? Nords don’t need to speak with Maramal… All of this might be a lot of fun to put into practice. Please let me know what you think). I’ll have a look based on your suggestions.

Q1: Can I customize the chance of them having an amulet?
If 25% chance is not enough, you can increase or decrease the chance of marriage candidates from having the amulet just by editing the ini file included in my mod. Changing where it says 25 to 100 will give all marriage candidates an amulet, for example.
Q2: ESL marked?
Yes
Q3: Does this modify outfits?
No, it’s done via SPID + spell that equips the amulet.
Q4: Will the dialogue show up with male marriage candidates if they are wearing an amulet and I’m not?
Yes, as per vanilla behaviour. If you are insecure that you have a problem with this, please don’t download these mods. It’s a dialogue option. You choose it or you don’t.
